Anna Solecka

My artistic practice is interdisciplinary and experimental; I am working with sound, text, performance, photography, and video. I continuously test and combine media, mixing established techniques with new methods. ♥ Alongside my artistic work, I curate and organize events of various kinds. I feel determined to share with others what inspires and amazes me; that's the fuel for my performative/artistic activity as well as my research, theoretical, lectural and curatorial work. ♥ My projects are artivist in nature—often manifest-like and intimate—rooted in personal experience while leaving space for identification and resonance with others.Over recent years, my work has consistently addressed femininity and gender inequality, examining the role of women in society, the often obscure mechanisms of patriarchy, and systemic forms of neglect, abuse, and oppression. ♥ Currently, my research has shifted toward the history of womanhood, focusing on rituals, beliefs, religion, and myth, as well as themes of crudeness, authenticity, and the ephemerality of everyday life. ♥ I am increasingly engaging with these subjects through a theoretical and literature-based lens, integrating academic research with artistic inquiry. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I graduated from the Faculty of Intermedia at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków in 2025, receiving a first-class honors degree. ♥ In 2023, I participated in the Erasmus+ programme in Athens, where I attended Poka Yio’s lab at the Athens School of Fine Arts. I maintain a strong personal and artistic connection to Greece and its cultural heritage, which continues to play a significant role in my life and practice and motivates my recurring returns to the region. ♥ My diploma and thesis project, dziewczynka (girlie), took the form of a performance-exhibition and focused on the performance of femininity and the sexualization of women, while foregrounding imperfection and vulnerability. ♥ I am presently enrolled in two master’s degree programs at Jagiellonian University: Performance Studies and Laboratories of Modern Culture. My academic research centers on the performativity of women in ancient Greece, inspired by women-only ritual Thesmophoria and it's speculative female archive. I am actively researching sources directly related to this festival, as well as broader materials on women’s rituals, goddesses, and mythology. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I took part in various events and exhibitions in Poland and abroad such as Kraków Photomonth Festival as a winner of ShowOff section, REVERSE Conference orgaznized by Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków as a lecturer, exhibition and performance "Girlie" at the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre, video showcase at Meno Parkas Gallery in Kaunas, Latvia, Concert/album listening "Soundscapes of Attikis” at Κέντρο Ελέγχου Τηλεοράσεων – KET, performance at ROMANTSO, Athens, Greece and many others.
